Frequently Asked Questions

How long does potty training take?

Most puppies are reliable in 3–6 months with consistent scheduling. Some breeds (Bulldogs, Yorkies, Maltese, Bichons) take 6–12 months. Some breeds (German Shepherds, Border Collies) train in weeks.

Should I use pee pads?

Generally no if your goal is outside-only elimination. Pee pads teach the puppy that indoor elimination is sometimes okay, which makes the transition harder. Only use pads if you're committed to permanent indoor elimination.

Does the crate method work?

Yes — dogs naturally avoid soiling their sleeping area. A properly sized crate (just big enough to stand, turn, lie down) leverages this instinct. The crate is THE foundation of fast potty training.

What if my puppy keeps having accidents in the same spot?

The smell is the trigger. Clean with enzyme cleaner (regular cleaners leave odors that attract repeat accidents). Block access temporarily if possible. Restart the schedule from scratch if accidents are frequent.
